The History of The Macie Herbert Memorial Seventh-Day Adventist Church
In the late 50's, Mrs. Macie Herbert, wife of James "Jim" Herbert, owner of the Herbert Funeral Home, became a sabbath keeper, with no place to worship in the Greenville, Alabama area.
Every Sabbath Mrs. Herbert and her dog would go to the Funeral Home Chapel to worship, her dog would wait patiently outside for her to come out.
After Mrs. Herbert's death, in memory of his late wife , Mr. Herbert bought an old school house in 1963 and had it moved to 333 Harrison Street, renovated and donated it to the South Central Conference of Seventh-Day Adventist on the behalf of his deceased wife Mrs. Macie Herbert, who stood as a stalwart light in the central Alabama area for many years. Mr James passed away on December 6 1991 at the age of 103
